Papé Group Expands
The Papé Group, Inc. reached an agreement to acquire the
assets of two John Deere construction and forestry equipment
dealerships: Smith Tractor Co. of Washington and Hessel
Tractor of Oregon. Smith Tractor is a John Deere and Bobcat
dealer operating in seven Washington locations. Hessel
Tractor operates five John Deere locations throughout the
state of Oregon. The deal is expected to close April 1, 2002.
"The acquisition is a tremendous opportunity for The
Papé Group, Smith Tractor Company and Hessel Tractor,"
says Randy Papé, Papé's president and CEO. "We will have
more service locations, highly skilled employees and more
resources to meet our customer' needs."

Fine Named General Manager
LeTourneau Sales & Service Company named Joe Fine
General Manager of Northwest Operations. Fine, who has
more than 25 years experience with LeTourneau, will be
responsible for all activities at the company's locations in
Portland, Ore.; Tacoma, Wash.; Redding, Calif.; and Coeur
d'Alene, Idaho. Before the promotion, Fine handled all
activities other than sales.
Lowrey Wood, the company's Vice President and
General Manager, said that the change is being made to help
maintain LeTourneau's focus on support of
customer in the Northwest.

Boman New Distributor for Tigercat
Tigercat Industries has announced that Boman
Industries, headquartered in Salem, Oregon, has been
appointed as the authorized Tigercat distributor for
Washington, Oregon and Northern California.
Boman Industries built their business around supporting
the logging customer by designing, manufacturing, selling
and servicing Boman motorized carriages to the cable logging
customer. For 25 years Boman Industries has been
helping loggers improve productivity and
profitability.
"The opportunity to supply and support such a quality
product as Tigercat to our customers is a real honor," said
Lee T. Smith, President of Boman Industries. "It's exciting to
work with a manufacturer that has the same commitment to
quality and the logging customer as we do at Boman."

Paldino Director of Sales and Marketing
The Pacific Lumber Company named Kevin Paldino as
the Director of Sales and Marketing. Paldino has worked for
Georgia Pacific Corporation for the last 19 years. He has
held a variety of positions including National Marketing
Manager for Specialty Lumber Products, Senior Product
Manager for Specialty Lumber, and National Marketing
Manager for Redwood Lumber.

New Dean at U of W
University of Washington President Richard L.
McCormick has named long-time UW Professor Bruce Bare,
an expert on the economics, management and sustainable
use of forestlands, dean of the college of Forest Resources.
Bare, who has been acting dean since May 2001, leads a
college with 56 faculty members who conduct research and
teach in areas such a ecosystem sciences and conservation,
forest management, forest engineering, paper science and
forest products marketing. Last year the college brought in
7.5 million in research grants and contracts.
"Our vision is to have a program emphasizing the stewardship
of natural and managed environments and the sustainable
use of their products and services," says Bare.

Esquenet Director
Remy Esquenet has been named Director of Fiber
Recovery and Utilization of the American Forest & Paper
Association (AF&PA). Before joining AF&PA, Esquenet was
an attorney in private practice working on environmental
law issue. Prior to that, Esquenet worked at the White House
Office of the Federal Environmental Executive where he dealt
with policy issues relating to recycling, procurement and
waste prevention.
