Bevel Buddy™ Sharp Edge

You can now put a sharp edge on your chipper knives in minutes — while they are still in your machine.

These hand held sharpeners not only save dollars, they provide a safer operator environment handling fewer knives, create less down time, extend the life span of chipper parts such as bolts, knife holders, and clamps, and create fewer knife changes.

These sharpeners work well on disc or drum chippers with pocket mounted or face mounted and disposable knife systems, as well as recyclers with chipping knives.

Currently Bevel Buddy™ sharpeners are being used on brush chippers and whole tree chippers and in sawmills, chip mills, and pulp mills. www.newenglandforestryequip.com

John DeereJohn Deere Announces Final Tier 4/Stage IV Engine Technology Path

John Deere will continue on its planned building-block approach to meet United States Final Tier 4 and European Union Stage IV emissions regulations. Final Tier 4/Stage IV regulations for off-highway diesel engines begin as early as 2013 for engines 74 HP and below. Regulatory dates for engines 75 HP and above will be implemented in stages starting in 2014 and 2015 and require particulate matter (PM) levels established by Interim Tier 4/Stage III B regulations to be maintained while requiring an additional 80 percent reduction in nitrogen oxides (NOx) from previous regulations.

To meet Final Tier 4/Stage IV emissions regulations in some power categories, John Deere developed the Integrated Emissions Control system — an optimized after treatment solution paired with the performance-enhanced, fuel-efficient Interim Tier 4/Stage III B engine platform, featuring proven cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The John Deere Integrated Emissions Control system will typically consist of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), diesel particulate filter (DPF), and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system specifically designed to meet the demands of off-highway applications.

Fecon FTX100Fecon® Introduces the FTX100 LGP

Fecon® introduced the new FTX100 LGP mulching tractor. Equipped with a 99 HP Kubota V3800 engine, this tractor provides impressive cutting power and traction capabilities. Though similar to the original FTX100, this machine boasts a heavier designed undercarriage. The FTX100 LGP offers both 16” and 20” track shoe options in single or triple grouser. These options allow the contractor to outfit the machine for rough terrain or soft ground conditions where a light footprint or reduced ground disturbance is important.

The 20” wide track option on the FTX100 LGP provides 4.4 psi ground pressure. Added value features on this purpose built tractor are ground clearance, tractive effort, and durability. With the standard quick attach mounting system, the FTX100 LGP can be equipped to utilize several forestry and construction attachments. Compact size and a weight of 14,950 lbs. allow for easy transport with mid-sized trucks. www.fecon.com

Wood Mizer IS203Wood-Mizer IS203 Industrial Blade Sharpener

Wood-Mizer Products Inc. has released the new IS203 Industrial Sharpener for high quality, efficient thin-kerf blade sharpening.

The IS203 can sharpen 1” to 3” wide band blades. Adjustable arms and a Blade Support Kit make it easy to accommodate various blade lengths. The Control Station has a user-friendly interface that allows the operator to set up the blade to be sharpened and then set to “Run” mode. The tooth counter stops the sharpener when the blade is finished sharpening. Variable grinding speeds can be set. The front view window and interior LED lighting allow the operator to check in on the sharpening progress.

Quality and efficient grinding is ensured with the 1 HP motor used to power the 8” CBN grinding wheel that turns at 4280 rpm. Oil management is simplified with a 2.5-gallon oil reservoir, an oil pump, and a magnet filter tray to keep oil clean. An inboard carbide scraper deburrs the blade teeth after sharpening. www.woodmizer.com.
