Metko 2000

The leading forest industry trade fair in Finland.

The Fair attracted a record 19,000 visitors, with the event's Saturday attendance reaching nearly 10,000. Held in Jamsankoski, Finland from August 31 to September 2, 2000, Metko attracted professionals in forestry and heavy construction, as well as companies providing machinery, services and products to the industry. This year, 195 exhibitors attended the event. Erkki Eilavaara of FinnMetko Oy, the event's organizer, said the show's new three-day format will be continued when the show returns in 2002. The Mantsinen MSK 60, a highly modified version of the Hitachi EX 455, offers an alternative to overhead cranes and high speed material handling in mill yard applications	ProSilva showed its 810 harvester with a Logmer 990 boom and a Keto 100 harvesting head

• The new Loglift cab provides a totally enclosed, safe environment not found on other loaders and weighs 15 to 30 per cent less than other loaders in its class without cabs


The Waratah multi stem thinning machine is used for high speed clearing and fuel wood collection	Logset's 655/665 harvester head with patented "moustache trimmer" delimbing knives is designed to give better quality delimbing of tops and small diameter stems


Timberjack's largest harvester, the 1470, has an operator cab and crane that levels and rotates to face the harvesting head and work in progress	Fiberpac, now owned by Timberjack, demonstrates its top and branch collection machine that bales and cuts 24" diameter fibre "logs" to be picked up by forwarders and sent to power plants


Both Pika and Valmet displayed their versions of combi machines that perform both harvester and forwarder functions in the same machine	The Arbro 12" diameter stroke thinning harvester/ processor fells, delimbs and cuts trees to length and can be installed on a standard farm tractor
