Release Agent Keeps Blades Clean
Canuck Chemicals Inc has introduced Cancoat 37, a new release agent that inhibits snow buildup on mill drag chains, truck trailer undercarriages and snowplow blades. Cancoat 37 can be used to prevent wood chips, sawdust, hog fuel, dumpster and garbage packer waste materials from freezing to chip trailers, chip hoppers, rail cars, yard loaders, truck trailers, sawmill conveyors and chutes. Equipment treated with Cancoat 37 can be placed into long-term storage without the risk of rust or corrosion, the company says. Based on a pharmaceutical grade of liquid petroleum jelly, the release agent will not interfere with the pulping process, will not freeze and will not harm paint. The nontoxic agent lasts for a minimum of six to eight loads per application and up to 15 loads, depending on materials hauled. One gallon covers approximately 500 square feet. Vermeer TG800 Heavy Duty Grinder
The Vermeer TG800 tub grinder is designed for large volume wood and yard waste disposal, waste reduction and recycling tasks and features an electronic fuel injected, twin turbocharged and after cooled, 800hp Caterpillar 3412E engine. The microprocessor controlled gear reduction transmission enables the TG800 to deliver maximum torque with minimum hammermill wear, the company says, and the unique tub design virtually eliminates material bridging. The 48inch rear discharge conveyor has a maximum loading height of 18 feet and an adjustable belt speed of up to 1,300 fpm. A tub diameter of 11 feet, a top flare of 13.6 feet, a 60inch wide belt conveyor, with a speed of 744 fpm and moveable plows, and an optional radial stacking conveyor are other features. New Track Feller Bunchers From Deere
Three new track feller bunchers from John Deere, the 753G, 753GL and 853G, give loggers productive machines that can operate in unfriendly terrain with
stability while leaving an environmentally sensitive footprint. The 230hp 753GL has ShiftTilt, a levelling system that levels the cab in four directions by shifting the machine's centre of gravity. It can be tilted forward as much as 27 degrees on slopes as steep as 51 degrees and can lean side-to-side 20 degrees on 36degree slopes. The cab can tilt to the rear 10 degrees on 18degree slopes. Tilting fully back to forward takes only 10 seconds, the company says. The 753 GL has 360 degree continuous rotation, almost no tail swing and over 23 feet of reach. The
non-levelling, 205hp 753G feller buncher has a 25' 8" reach and a speed sensing hydraulic system. The front discharging FS120 swing to tree disk saw head is standard on both machines. Optional is the FS122, a 22inch capacity head that is standard on the midsize 853G feller buncher. Circle Reader Service Card #265

stability in high production pine and hardwood delimbing. The system has been customized to produce the fast cycle times, smooth operation and power required for high production logging, the company says, resulting in a swing torque of more than 42,450 ftlbs and a lift capacity of 22,683 lbs at 15 feet. The sub-frame and stabilizer assembly provide a support base of 250 square feet, an increase of 15 per cent over the previous model. The all-white cab features standard large tinted windows, two sliding windows, a three speed defroster and a Lexan skylight for an unobstructed view from ground to treetops. The Prentice 384 has a

Thermex's PortaThaw Offers Rapid Engine Starts
PortaThaw, from Thermex Engineered Systems Inc, is a quick connect engine heater for very rapid start up in severe winter conditions. Connecting very briefly to a number of individual engines and warming each one to safe operating temperature in as little as five to six minutes, a single diesel fired PortaThaw unit will start eight, 230hprange engines within one hour at minus 37 degrees Celsius, the company says. Larger engines may take longer depending on coolant capacity and overall block size. A heavy-duty 12V bronze pump induces rapid circulation of the coolant through PortaThaw's heat exchanger, causing even heating of the block with no hot spots or sudden thermal shocks. The PT100 SCP has a selfcontained fuel tank and centre balanced lifting eye. Circle Reader Service Card #269

Kodiak Debarkers Feature High Speed
Valon Kone Brunette's new Kodiak debarkers feature high speed and excellent debarking, the company
says. Two of the machines-a 17inch and a 22inch- are in use at Canfor's Isle Pierre mill in Prince George, BC. The Kodiak debarkers have a VK450 self-centering conveyor feeding logs on centre into the spikeless feed rolls. The rolls reduce fibre damage as well as centre the log accurately to the tool centre, reducing end damage. The debarkers utilize an air seal for fully automatic variable tool pressure and the high response tool arms are controlled by an advanced air management system. Circle Reader Service Card #272
