INDUSTRY SHOWS

Big iron at Oregon show

The Oregon Logging Conference in February will feature a good mix of big logging iron and industry seminars.

Logging iron will be front and centre at the 65th annual Oregon Logging Conference and Equipment show (OLC) being held this year from February 19 to 22 in Eugene, Oregon at the Lane County Fair grounds. The show consists of 385,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor exhibits featuring state-of-the-art forestry equipment and showcasing current tools and techniques.

The equipment line-up—combined with topical seminars and panels—has made the OLC one of largest and most comprehensive annual logging equipment shows in North America. The event gets started on the evening of February 19 with a meet-and-greet and hosted bar at the Eugene Hilton Hotel. Adding to the festivities will be a fundraising auction to support forestry education. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the big equipment goes on display, with an 8 am opening.

On Saturday the grounds are open to the public. Along with the big equipment are the big names—Kobelco, Link-Belt, Caterpillar, John Deere, Timberjack—and many others. Dealers will be on hand to answer machinery questions and offer solutions, providing all the information needed for good decision making. An array of smaller machinery and products that address all aspects of forest industry requirements will also be on display.

Education for industry professionals is another large part of the OLC. Attendees will find a variety of panels and seminars covering current issues facing the industry. On Thursday and Friday afternoon, there will be panels covering subjects such as New Ideas and Technology in Logging, Salvage and Rehabilitation and The Success of Thinning and Reducing Fire Risk. Attendees are invited to socialize, network and renew old acquaintances on Thursday and Friday evenings at the Sawdust Bowl Watering Hole in the Livestock Arena.

Hundreds of attendees are expected to gather to enjoy a show-sponsored hour of good cheer and good company. For registration information, call 541-686-9191 or check out the OLC web site at www.oregonloggingconf.com
