Modern Machinery To
Distribute Valmet and
Timbco Forest Machines

On Nov. 27, Modern Machinery,
Missoula, Montana, distributor of
Komatsu construction equipment,
among other brands, entered into a
distribution agreement with Partek
Forest for marketing rights to Partek
Forest's brands of Valmet and Timbco
forest machines.

Trans-Gesco Acquires
Quadco Division

In October, Trans-Gesco announced
the acquisition of Quadco's Retail
Division. Quadco operations will be
integrated within Trans-Gesco and all
Quadco Retail Branches will become
Service Points and operate under the
Trans-Gesco banner.
As well as its own manufactured
products, Trans-Gesco will distribute
Timbco and Daewoo products. This
acquisition will allow Trans-Gesco to
provide its customers with better coverage
and continued application specific
product development.

Deere and Hitachi Integrate
Marketing Operations

Deere & Company and Hitachi
Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. will
integrate their marketing operations
North, Central, and South America, in
order to speed up decisions and
improve customer support.
The integrated operation will have
the responsibility for sales and distribution
of the Deere and Hitachi brands
of construction, forestry, and mining
equipment and solutions in the
Americas. While the action is not
expected to affect net income until
2003, it will result in higher reported
sales beginning next year.
Under this new plan, marketing
operations for Hitachi-branded products
in Houston, Toronto, and
Vancouver will be closed and melded
into Deere's construction and forestry
marketing operations in Moline,

Matheney Elected
To APA Board

Keith Matheney, vice president of
OSB and engineered wood products at
LP, has been elected to the APA Board
of Trustees. He succeeds Warren
Easley, LP's vice president of technology
and quality, who announced
recently he will be leaving the company
by the end of the year.
