New series of feller
bunchers from Tigercat

Tigercat has released the first run of 860C feller bunchers, phasing out the 860/870 series feller bunchers. The new C-series carrier has undergone a groundup redesign.

The C-series line-up includes the 860C, 870C and L870C feller bunchers, the H860C harvester, S860C shovel logger and D860C delimber carrier—all based on a common platform. Highlights include an advanced cooling system, a new operator’s cab and a redesigned engine house.

The C-series carriers are powered by a 280 hp Cummins QSL9 Tier II engine operating at 1,800 rpm. The entire roof enclosure retracts clamshell style, providing full access to the engine. A large, hinged door provides additional quick access to the engine compartment, and a manually tilting enclosure provides access to the pump stack.

Valley Machine unveils
cant sizer

In Atlanta this summer, Valley Machine Works unveiled its latest development— the Valley Machine Cant Sizer. This custom-built machine was designed after listening to customers’ upgrade project needs. The machine optimizes production and produces a cleaner, safer system, which is easy to tie into an existing mill flow.

The Valley Cant Sizer increases product value by sizing squares/ties exactly to customers’ specifications without costing valuable time on a resaw system. Optimization also allows the Valley Cant Sizer to remove a board from either dimension or split in two to ensure the highest possible value from every square without occupying the sawyer’s time.

MTS Sensors presents
new position sensors

MTS Sensors’ G-Series and R-Series sensors are the latest innovations in the Temposonics family of magnetostrictive position sensors. The sensors are optimized to benefit customers in the wood products industry, as well as other applications in harsh environments. Just a few of the features include: a new rugged design to maximize machine productivity and uptime; sensor diagnostics that minimize maintenance and operation cost, while replacing the need for a voltmeter or oscilloscope; and enhanced sensor design that eliminates damaged PCBs (printed circuit boards) due to miswiring.

In addition to the shared features, the G-Series also has increased shock and
vibration resistance and reduced EMI susceptibility. And the R-Series is a digitallybased“smart” sensor featuring enhanced output capabilities and improved sensing performance and accuracy.

Hyster introduces new
lift trucks

Hyster Company has announced the newest addition to the Fortis line of lift trucks. The sit-down, counterbalanced IC, solid pneumatic tire, Fortis H40-70FT offers low operational costs while exceeding the industry’s standards for dependability, productivity and ergonomics.

With capacities ranging from 4,000 to 7,000 lbs (1,814 to 3,175 kg), this new series of lift trucks reduces operating costs by matching the right engine with the proper transmission for specific application needs. Multitiered enginetransmission configurations create efficient powertrains, which offer greater fuel efficiencies and productivity.

A redesigned hydraulic system increases dependability. Simplified hydraulic components and routing away from heat sources reduces the number of potential leak points. The electrical systems have also been upgraded for improved reliability.
