Waratah

Waratah's three HTH series harvesters handle all types of harvesting applications. The 200 series HTH260 features a 25.6" cutting capacity, high-efficiency motors for the two feed rollers and four moving and two fixed delimb knives, with the lower pair sharpened both sides. Lightweight for its capacity- also 25.6"- the HTH 470 has the feeding power of constant four-wheel drive. Its two moving and two fixed feed rollers are hydraulically serial connected.

The HTH620 processes decked wood up to 23" in diameter or small clear fell to 20" in diameter, while the HTH 620 Warrior is designed for thinning and felling up to 22" and processing to 24". It incorporates larger drive motors, larger diameter wheels, a wider frame and optional bottom delimbing arms. Developed for felling to 24" in diameter and for processing decked wood to 29" in diameter, the HTH 624 Super has large diameter feed rolls with high torque drive motors and an 11BC 3/4" pitch saw unit. The HTH 626 Bigwood fells trees up to 26" in diameter and processes up to 34".

The WaratahKoehring FL235 multipurpose felling head can fell trees up to 33" in diameter in a single cut, then delimb and top, butt trim, crosscut to log length, pile and load. It can pivot and rotate on a fixed mount with 355 degree non-continuous wrist articulation.

Felling heads in the FS (swing to tree) series have a side pocket accumulator (FS120) and centre pocket accumulators (FS122 and FS124). The advantages of the centre pocket include maintaining the best possible control of large, tall trees by keeping stems centred. The side pocket can accumulate large bunches of smaller trees without obstructing the operator's view and keeps the entire cutting area available to the last tree in the cycle.

The FS120 and FS122 have a cutting capacity of 22", while the FS124 has a 24" capacity. Standard on the FS120 is front discharge, a system that reduces debris buildup and, by eliminating the side discharge chute, also reduces the width of the blade housing. Circle Reader Service Card #167

Lako

The three basic harvesting heads in the Lako X50 series offer two or four-wheel drive configurations for higher efficiency. All three also come in heavy-duty versions, constructed with stronger frames and moving parts, for hydraulic excavator and tree length processing.

The Lako 650 has a cutting capacity of 30", with optimum tree diameters from 4" to 20". It can be equipped with an optional, large cutting capacity top saw, with cross cutting capacity of up to 20". The 550's cutting capacity is 25", with optimum tree diameters from 4" to16", while the 450's is 21", with the optimum between 4" and 12".

The 650 is most suitable for final felling and tree length operations, while the 550 is designed for both thinning and final felling of small and medium timber.

The 450, with its fast feed speed, is designed for thinning smaller trees. The computer measuring and control system used in all the heads is the Motomit 4, designed to fit into any harvester cabin. With fewer connectors in a four wire system, it is easier to install than the previous version and offers versatile programs including measuring, scaling, colour coding and a printer. GilbertTech

Three felling head models from GilbertTech feature a top rack and grab arm design that ensure the best alignment and grasping of the stems, maximizing accumulation capacity. The 1255 and 1252 heads have a cutting capacity of 22.5" and 21" respectively, while the smaller 1249 has a cutting capacity of 19.5".

The attachment modules are equipped with a bumper system for smooth stopping of the accumulating and grab arms, while the large bottom accumulation area and V Shaped opening make it easier to cut several trees in one operation. A 220degree lateral tilting system integrated into the adapter improves felling head maneuverability and diminishes stress on the head framework.

The tree support plate is bolted rather than welded, eliminating possible cracking. A component added to the saw drive housing eliminates periodic bearing preload adjustment, while the front chip discharge system offers safer operation. Circle Reader Service Card #168

Fabtek

The FT240 dangletype processing head from Fabtek has a 24" cutting capacity, delimb arms of high tensile steel with 400 brinell hardness and 21" steel spike rolls. The FT180 has an 18" cutting capacity and 18" steel spike rolls. Advanced digital ramped roller speed control gives smoother, more accurate measurement, reduced system stress and longer hose life.

Tigercat

The new Tigercat 650 harvesting head is built for productivity and durability in tough conditions, with heavy-duty construction in the tripod and link and expander bolts placed throughout the head. Independent testing has shown it to be in the lead for accurate length and diameter measurement, the company says. The fast cutting system handles final and cross cutting applications up to 26" and feeds at up to 15 ft/sec. Logical and accessible hose placement makes for improved serviceability, while a choice of hydraulic wheel motors allows a good balance between power and feeding speed in different applications.

The new 5700 felling saw, available for drive-to-tree and track feller bunchers, is a single post saw head. With an asymmetrical butt plate and horn design, the 5700 is able to centre and control large diameter trees and bunch smaller stems in parallel alignment. Built for extreme duty, it has a 23" single cut capacity and a 44" throat. The arm pivot pins are 2.5" in diameter with threaded ends. Circle Reader Service Card #170
