Drying System Prevents Air Line
Freeze-ups
Van Air Systems says its economical single-tower compressed air drying
systems prevent air line freeze-ups that cause cold weather downtime. With
excess moisture and other contaminants removed, air-operated cylinders,
tools and valves keep running and last longer. The air dryers eliminate
the need for gas injection systems, the company says, and are more
effective and less expensive to operate. The single-tower dryers require
no energy source and can be skid-mounted. Air from the compressor flows
upward through a bed of drying tablets that absorb entrained moisture. The
condensate falls to the claim area where it is drained. Capacities range
from seven- to 16,000-scfm and 100 psig. Accessory filters and automatic
drain valves are also available. Circle Reader Service Card #649
Carter2 Systems Offers
Vent-X-Changer
The new multi-kiln Vent-X-Changer from Carter2 Systems Inc operates on
several kilns, decreasing energy costs by 30 per cent or more by capturing
energy usually vented and lost, the company says. Improvements in
technology have increased the overall efficiency while reducing the
overall cost, offering improved results with gas, oil or woodfired
boilers. The Vent-X-Changer changes how the dry kiln vents and creates a
more uniform drying environment, taking in humid air, before it is
reheated and vented, and normally raising the dry input air temperature by
at least 100 degrees before it enters the kiln. Customers also report an
increase in grade and faster drying, the company says. Each system is
engineered to specific mill requirements. Circle Reader Service Card #650

Toyota Adds Large Capacity Lift Trucks
Toyota's new large capacity, cushion tire lift trucks offer capacities from
8,000 to 15,500 lbs. The 7-Series models, which join the 8,000- to
10,000-lb capacity pneumatic tire models, feature Toyota's stability
system with an Active Control Rear Stabilizer to reduce lateral tipping
and the Active Mast Function Controller to help reduce the chance of
longitudinal tip-over. Other features include a four-way seat with
adjustable lumbar support, a high-torque, 4.3-litre V-6 overhead valve
engine with a standard twospeed torque converter, fully hydrostatic power
and hydraulic power-assist to control tilt, lift, attachment, steering and
braking with a single-pump design. The large capacity internal combustion
forklifts are designed specifically for the demanding requirements of pulp
and paper, metal fabrication and construction applications. Circle Reader

Precision Announces Flexible Board End
Waxer
The new flexible board end waxer from Precision Sawmill Systems Inc
uniformly applies heated wax to the ends of planer mill boards or dimension
lumber in-line after the trim saws, resulting in improved appearance from
the traditional painting method, the company says. Waste and cleanup is
minimized as the heated wax is controlled and regulated and, since wax is
much thicker than paint, there is no wax overspray. Electric heaters
inserted into the units provide uniform control of the consistency of the
wax in a variety of conditions. Aheat lamp can be added to keep the roller
at the proper temperature, without wax build-up. The process significantly
enhances the overall appearance of stud and lumber ends, the company says.
The sturdy unit is easily adjusted to meet a variety of size options from
1x4s to 2x12s and can be customized to individual operations. Circle
