Bobcat Celebrates 50th
In 1958, Melroe Manufacturing bought the rights to an innovative three-wheeled loader built by Cy and Louis Keller of Rothsay, Minn. This machine, known as the Melroe Selfpropelled loader, was the forerunner of what became the Bobcat® skid-steer loader, and ultimately what began the compact equipment industry.

Today, 50 years later, Bobcat is celebrating its golden anniversary in style.

The company is taking a custom van around the country, telling their story, while offering great food and prizes to its customers.

Greg G. Sjothun, regional sales manager for the Northwest, says between 200 and 400 people have turned out for each event, and as many as 1,200 in Calgary.

“Our success is attributed to the passion of so many… our employees, our dealers, our customers… all those who together, comprise the greater Bobcat family,” says the company.
